Youth Symphony

Our ensemble is made up of strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, and harp, and is designed to challenge and inspire young musicians to reach their full potential. Throughout the season, our musicians have the opportunity to participate in master classes and sectionals led by members of the Nashville Symphony, university professors, recording musicians, and educators.

In addition to our scheduled fall, holiday, and spring concerts, our youth orchestra musicians have the opportunity to perform at many community events, including the Nashville Symphony's Free Day of Music in the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Our musicians have also had the opportunity to record at Historic Studio A and Ocean Way Studios.

We also offer small ensemble opportunities for strings, woodwinds, brass, and our Jazz/Rock Ensemble for those interested. Our youth orchestra members also have the opportunity to travel and perform, such as traveling to Chicago to participate in clinics at Northwestern University, touring the city sites and attending a performance by The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They also traveled to New York City where they participated in a Broadway clinic rehearsal, visited Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, toured Carnegie Hall, visited attractions throughout the city and saw Les Miserables on Broadway.
