A Night to Remember: The Tennessee Youth Symphony's Winter Concert
On December 4, 2022, the Tennessee Youth Symphony presented their Winter Concert on the campus of Nashville State Community College. The concert was a showcase of the incredible talent and dedication of the young musicians in this organization. Two orchestras performed, the Prelude Strings and the Youth Symphony, under the direction of Melissa Edgington and Anna Maria Miller respectively.
The Prelude Strings opened the concert with a stunning performance of four songs: Symphony No. 5 (Finale) by Ludwig van Beethoven, Dramatic Essay by Mark Williams, Brandenburg Concerto 5, mvt 1 arr. by Isaac, Trepak (from "The Nutcracker") by Tchaikovsky, Rhythmic Snapshots of Christmas by Brian Balmages and Carol of the Bells by Michael Hopkins . The young musicians demonstrated their impressive skills and musicianship. The energy and precision they brought to the stage was truly remarkable.
The Youth Symphony, under the direction of Anna Maria Miller, performed an exciting program that included Gustav Holst’s The Planets. They played two movements, Mars The Bringer of War and Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity. Each piece was executed with great skill and passion, showcasing the hard work and dedication of the young musicians. The Youth Symphony's performance of Jupiter and Mars was especially noteworthy, as it was a complex and challenging piece that required a high level of skill and attention to detail.
The concert was a celebration of the talented young musicians of the Tennessee Youth Symphony, and it was an honor to witness their dedication and hard work come to fruition in such an impressive performance.
